ABCD's Citywide Boston Hispanic Center provides a wide range of services to the Hispanic community with a focus on employment and training opportunities. The Center works with all ABCD programs to strengthen services for and participation by the Latino community in all initiatives. Bilingual staff collaborates with human service agencies, neighborhood-based organization and local businesses to benefit community residents.
The Center's services and programs include:
- Youth Against Violence (Jovenes Contra la Violencia), a program that provides educational workshops related to violence issues for Latino youth
- Recruitment for the post office, fire department and MBTA
- Preparatory workshops for Civil Service examinations
- Job-readiness workshops, including resume preparation assistance
- Educational workshops
- Referral/advocacy on SSI, Social Security, Medicaid, & Medicare
- Online food stamp applications
- Information & referral on child care and other needs
- Public & private housing applications
- Translation services
- Workshops for seniors in collaboration with Match-up Interfaith Volunteers
