Many of the clients served by the North End/West End NSC are older, on fixed incomes and have limited formal education. Many North End elders speak only Italian and live on their own. The NSC's bilingual support and advocacy is critical to their survival and independence.
The NSC is based at the renovated former North End school now know as "Villa Michelangelo" which also provides 71 units of housing for low-income seniors, services of the North End Community Health Center and a Visitor Center that is also a Freedom Trail stop.
The North End/West End NSC services and programs include:
- ESOL for new immigrants, serving 14 nationalities
- Intergenerational computer course
- Online Food Stamp applications
- Mayor's Emergency Preparedness Program which provides valuable information and equipment to be used in an emergency
- Advocacy campaign for the development of an affordable supermarket in the area
