The Citywide Boston Hispanic Center (CBHC) proudly acknowledges Yadires Nova-Salcedo for her significant contributions to the empowerment of the Latino community in Boston and beyond.
Yadires is the host and producer of WBZ-TV’s “Centro,” a special news segment that examines issues of importance to the Latino community. She and her husband Angel also run their own Spanish news and entertainment show "Encuentro Latino," on Telemundo.
Yadires is a well-known figure around ABCD, wielding her star power to draw attention to the needs of the low-income population of Boston. She regularly features ABCD programs on her show and is always willing to volunteer her time and talents as emcee at various ABCD events.
“This award is just a small token of the enormous appreciation that ABCD and Citywide Boston Hispanic Center have for all that Yadires has done to promote the needs of the those in the community,” says CBHC Director Jenny Cintron.
Yadires began her television career at WCVB-TV in Boston while still a middle school student. While there, she worked as a production assistant on “Good Day” in 1990 and as an on-air spokesperson for Hispanic audiences during the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. Yadires also worked for WUNI-TV – another Univision affiliate – where she was the news director, producer, editor and lead anchor.
Yadires is on the Board of Governors of the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Television Academy and is a member of the Latino Professional Network and the New England Ad Club.
