Philip Carver is a staunch believer that civic involvement is the key to success for any community. The Dorchester NSC honors him for his extraordinary commitment to the neighborhood he has always called home.
Philip Carver’s presence is felt throughout Dorchester. He created the Dorchester Neighborhood Issues Forum to engage his neighbors in civic participation. Philip established the Dorchester Support our Soldiers Program which sends supplies and care packages to soldiers in Iraq. He also created the Sister Eustace Fund and the Army Sergeant Daniel J. Londono Memorial Fund.
Philip is actively involved with numerous organizations that share ABCD’s vision, including the Pope Hill’s Neighborhood Association. He sits on the boards of the All Dorchester Sports League and St. Ann’s School. He also volunteers his time with the Duchaney Memorial Committee and the Neponset Veterans Association among others.
“Philip cares about where he lives and puts a stake in his community,” says Alison Carter Marlow, director of the Dorchester NSC. “He believes it is incumbent upon him and his wife to make sure the community in which they are raising their children is thriving. He could not be a better example of how to be a positive agent of change.”
For his ongoing efforts in Dorchester and beyond, Philip has been the recipient of several prestigious acknowledgements. He is a “Fellow” at UMASS Boston’s College of Management Emerging Leaders program and has been named a “Model Citizen” by Social Capital Inc. Dorchester. He was also the recipient of UMASS Boston’s Robert H. Quinn Award for Community Service and recognized by the Boston Business Journal’s Annual “40 Under 40" Award for his accomplishments.
