Bridging Gaps Between Generations
The Foster Grandparents program matches low-income senior volunteers age 55 and above with children in schools, daycare centers, hospitals, and Head Start sites for 20 hours each week. Grandparents spend this time offering mentorship, guidance, and simple companionship to young people. Foster Grandparents and their “grandchildren” also take part in recreational and social activities.
All Foster Gradnaprents receive training and support as they work to positively influence children’s self-esteem, emotional well-being, learning and social skills.
Foster Grandparent opportunities are available in Boston and Quincy, and in a variety of languages.
