ABCD's Full Day Child Care Services administers year-round, full day child care programs that serve 700 children and their families at sites throughout Boston. Initiatives include:
- Early Head Start Teen Parent Program provides comprehensive developmental and support services to teen parents and their infants and toddlers at sites in Dorchester, East Boston and the South End. The majority of teen parents are able to finish school and move into higher education, training programs or upwardly mobile jobs.
- Supportive Child Care Services offers child care to children with a history of abuse and neglect, providing them with a safe and educational environment while their parents receive needed services.
- Community Partnerships for Children provides preschool children with full day services and interventions that focus on the needs of low-income, at-risk preschoolers, special needs children and homeless children. The initiative also provides credentialing opportunities for early childhood staff, comprehensive services to families, and quality improvement of early childhood care and education.
- ABCD is also the lead agency in the Community Partnerships, Children At-Risk Enhancement Services (CPCARES) initiative. It allows ABCD to facilitate comprehensive services for at-risk children, and supports national accreditation applications. The grant also funds child care courses at Urban College of Boston.
