Health Services

The ABCD Health Services Department is committed to maintaining the health of low-income residents and communities in the greater Boston area through several cutting-edge, community-based public health disease prevention and health promotion programs.

Women in Transition Health and Hope - A five-year grant for service delivery to combat the incidence of HIV and substance abuse among women of color in Boston.

ABCD Cares - Comprehensive pre- and post-release services for incarcerated women with a special focus on those with HIV.

Entre Nosotras (Between Us) - Promotion of healthy behaviors among at-risk Latinas through at-home "Safety Net" parties, small group interventions, peer development and outreach through a network of beauty salons and other community businesses.

Entre Nuestras Familias (Within the Family) - Intergenerational support to mothers and daughters to reduce risks that lead to teen pregnancy, HIV and STDs, with young adult Latinas serving as peers to bridge the generational gap. The program educates mothers to increase communication with their daughter and provides prevention education to daughters.

Lower the Sound/Save Your Hearing - A campaign to raise public awareness of the large numbers of children and young adults suffering from hearing loss due to exposure to loud noise, especially music.
