Shelter Services

The Department of Housing and Homelessness Prevention provides emergency shelter through the Scattered Site Shelter program funded by the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD)

In a collaborative effort, DHCD places families in need of emergency assistance into the Scattered Site Shelter program where ABCD Housing staff not only provides services but also creates links to other programs. ABCD’s goal is to provide a strong transition from shelter living to permanent housing.

This program provides each family with housing search and case management to best serve their needs to help them move towards an independent, stable lifestyle. During their participation in the Scattered Site Shelter program, some families who may not have certain benefits will receive assistance to gain access to the following services:

ABCD’s commitment to families continues after placement.  Once the Scattered Site Shelter program helps a family secure permanent housing, a Stabilization Specialist will provide dedicated case management. Families will receive continued support in our Stabilization program for up to 18-months, so they can maintain their tenancy, understand their tenants’ responsibilities, and continue towards self-sufficiency.
