Shelter for Families In Need
ABCD's Housing and Homelessness Prevention Department manages 35 units of scattered site shelter housing for homeless families referred by the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).
This type of shelter generally serves two-parent families, single fathers raising children, larger families, and those with special needs. A family that is determined eligible by DHCD and assigned to an ABCD unit receives assistance from ABCD staff in adjusting to their shelter placement. This type of housing provides families with more independence as they work towards obtaining permanent and affordable housing.
If you're in need of emergency housing, you can call DHCD's Division of Housing Stabilization at 877-418-3308 or 617-573-1370 to find the nearest office to service you.
For other inquiries contact the Housing and Homelessness Department by phone at 617-348-6347.
