Sustaining Stability for Families
The Stabilization Program, administrated by ABCD's Housing and Homelessness Prevention Department, provides families who have transferred from shelter living to permanent housing an 18-month service of dedicated case management.
Most families coming out of shelter are still vulnerable to falling back into homelessness and may require counseling and resources to assist them during their transition. This program gives families ongoing support services so they can continue a self-sustainable lifestyle.
During this transitional period, clients receive assistance customized to their needs so they can maintain their tenancy by:
- Offering Money Management/Budgeting
- Classes Developing their Job Skills
- Assisting with Educational Goals
ABCD's Housing Department has managed housing subsidies for chronically homeless and disabled families and individuals for 15 years. Specialized services are provided to these households to assist them in managing the tasks of daily living. These household are identified and assessed by staff working in shelters. Eligible participants receive a voucher and are provided with long-term supportive services.
The Stabilization Program also refers clients to other services and resources as necessary.
